What We Stand For

Putting Our Community First

A Common-Sense Plan

Strong Families, Good Jobs, and a Community We're Proud to Call Home

For too long, folks in small communities and towns like ours have been asked to do more with less. We work hard, raise our families, go to church, and try to build a good life — but too often the decisions that affect us are made by people who don't put us first.

I'm running because I believe our community deserves leadership that will fight for everyday people. We need to focus on what really matters: good jobs, strong public schools, safe neighborhoods, and making sure our kids have a reason to stay and build their lives right here at home.

This campaign is about standing up for working families and making sure our community isn't left behind. I plan to do just that by collaborating with city and county government, partnering with the state government, and leveraging relationships in our federal government.

Quality of Life

A community should be a place where people are proud to live. That means clean streets, safe neighborhoods, and places where families can gather. When we invest in our community, we create the kind of community where people want to stay and where businesses want to come.

Small improvements can make a big difference in the daily lives of our neighbors.

Priorities

  • Improve parks, ballfields, and community spaces where families and young people can gather.
  • Support local festivals, farmers markets, and community events that bring neighbors together and support local vendors.
  • Work with churches and community groups to expand programs for youth, seniors, and families.

Education Investment

In small communities, our public schools are more than buildings — they are the backbone of the community. If we want our kids to succeed and our community to grow, we have to make sure our public schools have the support they need.

Education should prepare young people for real opportunities — whether that's college, the military, or a good-paying trade. That's what Dothan's public schools did for me. Dothan's public schools opened the door to unlimited opportunities for me starting with preparing me for college and then my career fighting for injustices. And I know Houston County Schools can do the same for our young people today.

Priorities

  • Expand career and technical education programs so students can learn trades like welding, construction, healthcare, and mechanics.
  • Strengthen partnerships between schools, local businesses, and community colleges to connect students with real job opportunities.
  • Support teachers and ensure classrooms have the tools and resources students need to succeed.

Economic Development & Job Creation

Working people deserve a fair shot at building a good life. Too many small communities have seen factories close, businesses struggle, and young people leave to find opportunity somewhere else.

We need leadership focused on bringing good jobs back, supporting small businesses, and making sure our local economy works for local people. I have been working on the Dothan Downtown Redevelopment Authority (DDRA), where I have served as treasurer since 2007, to incorporate a regional strategy that includes city, county, business leaders, developers and citizens to transform Dothan's Central Business District into the vibrant business and entertainment district it is today. Now I want to focus economic development attention on our underserved communities and small towns that have not enjoyed any significant economic development in decades.

Priorities

  • Support small businesses and family-owned businesses with resources and fewer unnecessary barriers.
  • Recruit industries that bring stable, good-paying jobs to our community.
  • Invest in workforce training programs that connect people with the jobs that are already available.

Affordable Housing

Hardworking people should be able to afford to live in the community they serve. Teachers, first responders, young families, and seniors should not be priced out of their own communities.

Smart planning can help us grow without losing what makes our community special.

Priorities

  • Encourage development of affordable housing for working families and essential workers.
  • Fix up vacant homes and abandoned properties so they can become safe housing again.
  • Support housing solutions that allow seniors to remain in the community they helped build.

Healthcare Access

In rural Alabama, getting healthcare shouldn't mean driving hours away. Families deserve access to doctors, hospitals, and clinics close to home.

Protecting rural healthcare is about protecting lives and making sure families feel secure in their community.

Priorities

  • Fight to protect and strengthen rural hospitals and clinics that serve our community.
  • Expand telehealth services so residents can connect with doctors without long travel times.
  • Work to attract more healthcare professionals to serve rural communities.

Infrastructure

You can't grow a community without strong infrastructure. Safe roads, reliable water systems, and high-speed internet are basic needs for families and businesses alike.

Investing in infrastructure helps local businesses grow and makes everyday life easier for residents.

Priorities

  • Improve roads, bridges, and transportation routes that people depend on every day.
  • Expand reliable broadband internet so students, farmers, and businesses can compete.
  • Upgrade water and sewer systems to protect public health and support future growth.

Public Safety & Violence Prevention

Keeping our community safe is one of the most important responsibilities of local government. Our neighborhoods deserve safety.

But real safety also means working together to prevent problems before they happen.

Priorities

  • Ensure local law enforcement has the training and resources needed to serve the community effectively and safely for both the officer and our residents.
  • Invest in youth mentorship, after-school programs, and positive opportunities for young people.
  • Build stronger partnerships between law enforcement, schools, churches, and community leaders so that we are working together to find solutions that continue to make our community safe.

Accountable Government

People are tired of politics that feels disconnected from everyday life. Government should work for the people who live here.

Leadership should be honest, transparent, and focused on solving real problems.

Priorities

  • Make sure residents know how tax dollars are being spent and how decisions are made.
  • Encourage community input and open communication between leaders and residents.
  • Run local government with common sense, efficiency, and fiscal responsibility.
  • Make sure residents know who's funding political campaigns in our community.
