In Her Own Words

"I have never been afraid to stand up, speak out, and do the hard work necessary to create change."
My name is Letetia Daniels Jackson, and I am running to serve as your Houston County Commissioner for District 1 because it is time for real, accountable leadership in Houston County.
I am a proud native of Dothan, the daughter of the late Ruth Daniels, and I was raised in this community with values rooted in faith, service, and hard work. My husband, Michael Jackson, a Dothan native who operates Aunt Katie's Community Garden, and Michael and I have built our lives here because we believe in investing in the place we call home.
Throughout my career, I have fought for working families, expanded access to healthcare, worked to reduce smoking among children, addressed public health challenges, and championed civil and human rights. Most recently, I was one of the plaintiffs in the historic U.S. Supreme Court Case, Allen v. Milligan— the redistricting case that resulted in Alabama electing two Black members of Congress for the first time in state history out of the seven Congressional members representing Alabama.
"Now, I am ready to bring that same fight home to District 1."
Our community deserves a commissioner who will show up, listen, and deliver results. We need leadership focused on preventing violence, strengthening economic development and job creation, investing in education, and ensuring our families have safe roads, clean drinking water, and modern infrastructure.
District 1 deserves someone who understands that public service is about people — not politics. I am running because I believe our best days are ahead of us, but only if we work together to demand more for our neighborhoods and our county.
I will be in our communities, knocking on doors and meeting with residents, because this campaign is about all of us. Together, we can bring real change to District 1 — and it starts now.
